5 Things You Should Spend More Money On For Your Family

Materialistic gratification can only last so long as new things will lose their shine and we will lose our interest. There are some things we shouldn’t spend so much money on and instead of buying items that will eventually be obsolete, spending it on something that will make lasting memories is far more valuable. While of course there are always going to be some exceptions, like kids shoes which are essential, when you’re about to spend a fortune on a “popular” toy, think about what is more important.

Education

There is nothing in the world that can compare to the feeling of starting to understand another language without having to think about it. While some language classes are expensive, they are worth it. Learning about different cultures, religions and different professions will open your mind. It doesn’t mean you need to convert your faith or change your job, just that you have added things you have been taught to your fountain of knowledge and you will never know when it may come in handy.

Traveling

Traveling can be pricey, but it also creates memories that last a lifetime, even the bad experiences eventually turn into funny stories. A trip to Europe can cost someone the same as a decent laptop, and longer trips can cost less than a fancy car you don’t really need, you just want. Swap all the materialistic things in for a fantastic night under the Northern Lights, a long journey backpacking through the Alps or a kiss on the Eiffel Tower.

Music

Learning to play a musical instrument is an excellent investment of your time and money. It is a beautiful tradition to start and something you can pass down to your children and make new memories.

Books

Books give a different experience to each reader that turns its’ pages. Each person uses their imagination to put the author’s words into images in their head. Books don’t ever require you to turn them on, charge them or restart them. They are things you can treasure and pass down from generation to generation. It is a beautiful thing to do to just sit somewhere, with a book in hand, with absolutely no distractions and books are portals to explore completely different worlds with a turn of a page.

Food

Trying new food is something that goes hand in hand with traveling the world. Instead of buying a new bag, save your pennies for some delicious food when you’re out and about. Invest in some cooking classes on food from different cultures like cooking classes at a vineyard in Italy where you can learn from an Italian chef how to create a traditional Italian meal. It is something you can take back home with you and teach friends and family. It’s worth spending some extra money on visiting a chocolatier in Belgium to appreciate a perfectly crafted truffle if you’re in the area.

Putting your money into things that will create memories over the instant materialistic things is magical. While you don’t have to spend all of it on creating memories, but if you do, you won’t regret it.
