My little Ava now you are two I thought I would write you another letter. Just like the year before, on your Birthday, I thought back to the day you were born. Waiting and worrying it was such a relief when you were placed in my arms. When I think back now it makes me squeeze you a little bit more tightly, hold you closely.
You love cuddles always climbing up on us, little arms around our necks you press your face into ours to give a kiss. You are still firmly attached to us rather than a toy or a blanket, running to us for a cuddle and to hold a hand. That’s your comfort and I can’t imagine a day where you don’t do that anymore.
We love the little dances you do, the way you move your arms and squeel with excitement. Everybody wants to make you laugh so you do, often, ripples of little giggles filling the air. Even your brothers exclaim how cute you are with your little soft, fluffy, growing curls and baby tights. They love you so much too.
You love making us laugh and will repeat an action to get a reaction, watching and waiting for us to join in.
You’ve just started counting, how I don’t know when you hardly talk but you do, a sure sign you are just an individual doing things in your own way and in your own time. I’m pretty sure if you are reading this when you’re older we won’t remember the days when we worried about you not talking.
You love Duddles (puddles) and watching you explore outside has got to be my favourite thing to do right now. Our little tree hugger, when you see one you run up to it, stand there with your mouth open and then sometimes hug and kiss it.
Almost fiercely independent and physically confident the stair gates are off, you are in a toddler bed and the baby things are slowly and surely disappearing.
The last few days you’ve decided you are a little girl, trying to put your clothes on and admiring yourself in the mirror with a stolen handbag of mine. I love the stage you are at, so demanding but so rewarding.
I know this next year you are going to change so much before the changes start to slow a bit. A part of me wants to keep you how you are right now, so adorable, but then I’m looking forward to seeing the little girl you are growing in to.
Love you baby girl xx
