Top Tips – How to style your jeans

Jeans, I have so many pairs of them! I have my favourites that get worn all the time, then I have the ones that I can get done up but can’t sit down in. The pregnancy jeans, post pregnancy (fat jeans) old jeans that I think I will one day fit into again. The ripped pair that are now too ripped and are in need of repair. The old flares that I’m keeping for when they are back in fashion. The black jeans for winter and the pale and white jeans for summer not forgetting the cropped and super skinny jeans.

My style has changed as I have got older and changes with the fashion too. Those bootleg jeans that I thought looked great on me 5 years ago I probably wouldn’t wear now. I wonder if it will be the same for skinnies in the future? There are so many different styles of jeans and I often have no idea when a new style comes out what would suit me and what I should be looking for when I buy a pair. I found the perfect pair of white jeans the other week but was put off buying them as I couldn’t think what I would wear with them.

If you too are wondering what type of jeans may suit you and your body shape and what to wear with them, hopefully this may help;

When I saw this I was so pleased to see that flares are back into fashion. It almost made me want to venture into the loft to dig out my favourite pairs!

Cool inforgraphic, thanks for sharing it. I didn’t know flares even went out of style.. we just started calling them “boot cut” lol.

MummyandMonkeys says:

Haha, yeah apparently they did. My go to pair of jeans are skinny. x

Charlene says:

I’m really not sure how I feel about cropped flares! Just think it might look like my jeans dont fit!

MummyandMonkeys says:

Yeah I know what you mean, I’m sure some people can pull the look off! x

Nice Tips! You can rip any pair of jeans and get the same results, but don’t feel obligated to rip a pair of jeans you already own, as you can thrift for comfortable, cheap jeans at local secondhand and consignment shops.

I have a whole suitcase full of size 8 and 10 jeans I just can’t throw away! I’m pretty sure some of them are flares….must try harder lol! it always saddens me a little to see cropped tops in style guides…it takes a super fit mum to brave one of them post baby!! #oneday x MMT #picknmix

I had to admit to myself the other day that I really have gone up a dress size! I still can’t throw away my old jeans though- and yes- many are flared! Cool infographic! #picknmix

Super post and I’ve found I already wear my jeans in the right place for my leg shape! I have gym legs apparently! Still not sure I’d go back to bootcut though#picknmixfridays

this is actually really helpful, now to find a pair of jeans that fit! 😉 #picknmix

I’m also the same, have loads of jeans i kept which hoping that I could wear again in the future when it will be back to fashion or when i get a bit thinner and would fit again! This is a great post… Thanks for sharing! #PicknMix

Not into cropped flares myself. Not a huge jeans person at all really. I always struggle to find something for my small waist and chunky thigh. Love boyfriend jeans when I get the right fit! Thanks for hosting x

I love jeans they are my wardrobe staple, but I was just considering giving my bootlegs to the charity shop actually. I didn’t know flares were back! I’m not sure on ripped jeans either but maybe I’ll feel more confident as a I begin to lose weight. Useful graphic 🙂

Ahhh I just can’t fit into my jeans since I had Tyler – it’s so sad! But I bought blue denim jeggins from C&A when I was in Madrid and they are awesome. My wardrobe stable. So comfy to wear and yet they look like jeans! #picknmix Sabrina xx

Lovely tips here – there’s nothing like a pair of jeans and a cute top! Thanks so much for hosting #PicknMix x

Oh this is so useful! I have been through so many styles of jeans! Flares certainly suit me the most though so happy to wear those again! #PickNMix xx

Emma's Mamma says:

This is great! I’m so happy flares are back! I was gutted when skinny jeans came into fashion because I look a lot better in flares! Great excuse to go shopping lol x #PicknMix

Alice says:

I just don’t think I could wear ripped jeans… I look like enough of a scruff without deliberate mess 😉
Last time flares were cool I wore a pair of original 1970s flared red cords until they completely fell apart 🙂

Super useful and a fab infographic! pinning 🙂 #picknmix

Great post! And love all the different styles. My faves are my skinny jeans 🙂 #picknmix xx

MummyandMonkeys says:

My favourites are my skinny/straight leg jeans x

Tracy Munoz says:

Great article #picknmix Happy to see I’m wearing the right shape too!

I never know what is in fashion but I have definitely not got on with skinny jeans being everywhere. A flare or bootcut is my style. Great info graphic. Thanks #picknmix

MummyandMonkeys says:

I love flares. I do think it’s important to get jeans that you feel comfortable in x

Ooh I hope you did go jean shopping x

Su says:

This is really interesting. I really need to get into shape before I can wear jeans again. I am so bad but I also keep lots of jeans too wishing that I can wear them everyday. This chart makes me want to have a good clear out for once and for all.

MummyandMonkeys says:

I had bags and bags of jeans up in my loft, some I still keep in the hope I will wear them again one day x

Jenny Eaves says:

Great graphic, thanks for sharing. I just get annoyed with jeans as they always fall down and I have to wear a belt, which is so annoying! 🙂 x

MummyandMonkeys says:

Since having Ava my bum has changed (more saggy I think) and my old jeans now fall down where my bum would have kept them up haha, so annoying x

What a great infographic! I used to LOVE bootlegs, these days its more of a straight cut jean for me rather than skinny jeans as my legs will not pull those off!! #PickNMix

MummyandMonkeys says:

I used to love bootlegs too, now I just think they look weird if I put them on. Most of mine are skinny/striaght. Don’t like the sprayed on look x
