Have you tried Office Yoga?

Have you tried Office Yoga? Yes you read that right and it’s not what you might think. It doesn’t have to involve rolling out your Yoga mat and doing a downward facing dog with your bum in the air for all your fellow office workers to see. You can actually do some Yoga moves from your office chair. Here is a video showing some Yoga on your office chair from Furniture at work. 

According to recent research office workers need to exercise for an hour a day to counteract the detrimental effect that our modern day sedentary lifestyles have on our bodies. An hour of exercise a day outside of work just might not be possible, but doing some #OfficeYoga during your lunch break could be. 

I’m a big fan of Yoga having done it on and off since being a teenager. It is always my exercise of choice and I know that when I do it I feel so much better physically and mentally. I quite often have the best nights sleep after doing Yoga that day. In fact writing this post has inspired me to try and do some lunchtime Yoga myself, it can be part of my lifestyle changes I am currently trying to do.

I think the office yoga moves look pretty easy and are definitely doable from an office chair. If I still worked in an office I would be trying some of these yoga moves out, especially as I used to get so stiff  and headachey sitting behind a computer all day. My job as a teacher is pretty active but I would still benefit from doing some exercise during my day at work and the calming benefits of yoga would also be good for those stressful days.

    I have suffered with RSI’s due to incorrect equipment and poor posture over the last couple of years and I’m sure this would be really worth giving a go. I’ve now received new equipment at work, but need to remind myself to get up and take breaks often and to do small exercises like these! Thanks for sharing x

    You know I’m going to print this out and put it on my desk. I seize up at my desk, it’s not comfortable. I love yoga so these will work great for me!

    I so need to do this! I posted about it as well but still not done the yoga as yet. I probably should do it now!

  4. I try to do yoga in the mornings (before the madness begins!) but must try to remember to incorporate it into my working day too! Thanks for this!
