Mustela 123 vitamin Barrier Cream

Before becoming a Mum I had no idea how much of my time would be spent talking about and worrying about baby bums, nappies and their contents, yes gross I know. I also had NO idea how many nappies I would be changing over the next 10 years, although I think I had a bit of a break in between Finlay and Ava. Over the years I have come across and used lots of different nappy creams and today I wanted to talk to you about Mustela’s 123 vitamin barrier cream.

Ava has always had sensitive skin and not only that but allergies. If you have an allergic baby or child you will probably know that chances are if they come into contact with something their body doesn’t like then their skin reacts to it too. Unfortunately for Ava if she eats something her body doesn’t like not only does it affect her tummy, she will also get a rash or sore when it comes out and touches her bum in the nappy. I’ve previously found creams that use zinc oxide to be the most effective at clearing things up but it’s not something I would put on at every nappy change. This is why Mustela’s barrier cream is so great, it prevents and clears in 3 steps. 

1. Prevents skin discomfort at each nappy change.
2. Soothes from the first application.
3. Recovers continually.

Importantly for me and Ava’s delicate skin in contains 0% fragrance and 0% preservatives and 98% of its ingredients are from natural origin including Avocado, sunflower and beeswax. The cream is also white meaning no staining if it gets on anything by accident.

When using the Mustela 123 vitamin barrier cream I found it easy to apply, it’s also easy to remove from your own hands. It lasted between nappy changes and not only that the tube lasts well too. It smells pleasant but not overpowering and felt safe to apply to delicate skin. I’ve been really impressed with it and Ava has had no real sore bum issues since we have been using it. If she gets a rash with a reaction and we for some reason didn’t already have it on to protect her skin the cream is quick in clearing it up. I would definitely recommend this cream to my Mummy friends.

How to treat nappy rash
 

• Change your baby’s nappy very often and as soon as possible after he urinates or has a bowel movement.
• Leave his skin to air nappy-free as often as possible.
• Each time you change his nappy, gently clean the skin with a special product then gently dab it dry.
• Use a special purifying and healing dermo-cosmetic product.
• Once the nappy rash is gone, apply a zinc oxide-based protective cream during each nappy change as a preventive measure to avoid a recurrence.
• Talk to your doctor if your baby’s nappy rash begins oozing, if he has trouble eating, persistent diarrhea or a skin rash, or if his condition doesn’t improve after three to four days of treatment.
