Sylvanian Families Cosy Cottage Starter Home Review

Who remembers Sylvanians? As a child I would spend hours playing with my Sylvanian Families and for Birthdays and Christmas I loved nothing more than getting new figures and furniture to add to my collection. I knew they were still popular and so have secretly been looking forward to playing them with Ava, so when I was asked if we would like to check out the Sylvanian Families Cosy Cottage Starter Home of course I said yes, probably a bit too quickly.

The Cosy Cottage comes with over 10 pieces including the main house, one figure (Freya chocolate Rabbit girl) and furniture including removable bedding. It also came with a little frying pan, plate, omlette and a fork. I thought these parts may be a bit small for Ava who is just two to play with but these were some of her favourite parts. I just had to keep an eye on her and follow her around when she carried the food in the frying pan.

The Cosy cottage is a great item from the Sylvanian Families range for those starting out to purchase as it has enough of the items to play with and see if your child is a fan, which she is. I’m not sure who had more fun playing with it actually. The great thing about Sylvanians is that you can keep adding to them, the cosy cottage can be joined up with other homes so they can create their own little village. I had a house and my sister a tree house and we would put them together and play with all our figures creating little stories.

My Mum and Dad actually kept a lot of our Sylvanians and after seeing the pictures of Ava playing with them yesterday they got them out of the loft for her. As soon as we got to their house this morning she was off playing with them and putting the figures to bed or sitting them on the chairs.

One of the things I love about the Sylvanian Families is the attention to detail. The cupboard doors of the kitchen sink and the front door for example can be opened and closed, the bedding is removable, and the furniture is perfectly proportioned.

The Sylvanian Families Cosy Cottage Starter Home retails for around £20 and would make a great Christmas present. I can’t wait to start adding to Ava’s Sylvanian Families collection.
