Child friendly holidays in Cornwall – The Valley

If you are looking for a parent and child friendly holiday destination you really can’t beat Cornwall. Beautiful scenery, stunning beaches and plenty of things to do whatever the weather.

When visiting Cornwall there are so many places to chose from. I have had the pleasure of staying at The Valley before and it really was an absolute pleasure. We chose to stay there as we were looking for somewhere luxurious, but also child friendly and The Valley ticked all the boxes.

Hidden away in thirteen acres of gardens and woodland at the heart of Cornwall lies an oasis of serenity, a unique collection of luxury self-catering holiday cottages that offers the perfect escape at any time of the year, for all the family.

Let me start with the cottages. They are amazing, we didn’t want to leave. The Haven was our 5* cottage of choice, it was the huge cathedral feature floor to ceiling window that sold it for us. There are plenty of other designs and sizes to suit from couples to larger families. The rest of the interior was just as lovely, with an open plan downstairs and spotlessly clean, modern bathrooms. When we visited we only had the one child. He was almost 2 at the time and so we made use of the stair gates, cot and the plastic plates, bowls and cutlery that is provided free of charge in every cottage. The dishwasher and washing machine also came in really handy. They really have thought of everything you could need when holidaying with children.

The resort itself is relaxed, peaceful and securely gated, it felt safe when toddling around and visiting the play areas. The whole resort had a feeling of luxury whilst maintaining the child friendly theme. The upmarket, onsite restaurant Cafe Azur had books and games available for your little ones. Great for keeping them entertained whilst you have a drink in the comfy sofas looking out onto the outdoor heated pool. We also visited in the evening for an amazing meal when we could have used the onsite babysitting service, however we had Nana and Grandad for that.

The indoor pool was a favourite with our little one at the time. He asked to visit it every day, numerous times. There is plenty to do for the adults too with pool and tennis tables, squash and tennis courts and a gym room.

Whilst staying in Cornwall we always visit the beautiful beaches, with Bedruthan Steps and Watergate Bay our absolute favourites. The Valley is ideally placed, only a few miles from the city of Truro and the bustling port town of Falmouth to explore the best of Cornwall. When visiting the beaches don’t forget to take you ‘poon and cake’ as Kyle then called them (spade, it looked like a giant spoon and rake). The owners are really helpful and will answer any questions you have on where to go and how to get there.

We all loved our stay at The Valley and talk every year about going back. I would love to visit with my two other children and James. I know he would enjoy the luxuriousness and the boys now older would enjoy the freedom and all the activities.
