Now I have an allotment and am actually, hopefully, managing to grow some vegetables and fruits. I realised I need garden markers so I can remember where and what I have planted in my raised beds and my planters at home. I made some really simple wine cork plant markers that are a great way to reuse those wine corks. And the best thing is you don’t need to buy any plastic markers.
WINE CORK PLANT MARKERS
Materials:
If you don’t have wine corks on hand, you can buy them by the bag at most craft stores or at Amazon. Alternatively have your friends save a few for you. You will need one cork for each plant you wish to mark.
- Wine Corks
- Sharpie Marker
- Wood Skewers
- Bostik Power Repair Glue*
- Corkscrew or screwdriver
Directions:
- Using a sharpie, write the name of the herb, vegetable or fruit that you have planted onto the side of the wine cork.
- If you don’t already have a hole in your wine cork you can make one either with the end of your skewer or if you are using dowel you may need to use a screwdriver.
- Squeeze some Power Repair Glue into the hole you have just made then insert the wooden skewer/ dowel into the base of the cork.
- Once dry you can place the wood skewer into the soil and you are done!
Note — you may need to trim the length of your wood skewer/dowel depending on how deep the area is that you are inserting the garden markers.
