Subscription Box

Subscription boxes are a great idea for kids as you can get them something they are interested in. We’ve been sent the Mud + Bloom box and we love it. With 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions available to buy as a gift from £35.85

If you put a note in the gift message box to let them know it’s for Christmas they will make sure that January’s box is posted out to arrive in time for Christmas.

The Mud + Bloom boxes, for 3-8 year old’s, are created to inspire children to connect with Nature. Each box includes everything you need for four seasonal activitiesgardening and nature crafts – along with instructions, nature news and a quiz aimed at teaching children about the seasons, plants, insects, birds, soil and rainfall.

All seeds are certified organic and biodynamic. They also provide organic peat free compost pellets in each box, to enable you to get planting immediately.

STEM and STREAM Toys

Interested in getting a STEM gift then have a look at Detective Dot which teaches children STEM skills through the story of a codebreaking spy child (the main character – Dot – is a culturally-diverse girl, which smashes the usual computer science stereotypes).

Sealed in a top secret envelope, Detective Dot arrives in the post addressed to your agent and contains a personalised letter from the CIA, a membership card, a Detective Dot book. Using just paper and pen to complete six skills-based ‘missions’. Kids aged 7+ are challenged with writing cryptic messages, inventing new spy gadgets, tech programming and generating a fake news story.

Detective Dot is printed and made sustainably in Britain by fairly-paid workers. On top of this, for every book sold, they give free learning materials to schools.

Sporty Gifts and Experiences

For sporty gifts you can get great bundles on skateboard sets, including helmets and safety pads. I might have one little boy who is really keen on skateboarding this year.

You can also get them skateboarding or long boarding lesson voucher/s, from £25, which can be purchased without having to arrange any dates or times upfront. The lessons are available seven days a week, each day from 8.30am. And Skates & Ladders can provide any equipment if needed free of charge (helmets, boards and pads).

There are loads of skateparks in London to choose from, all of them visited and tested out by the resident experts at Skates and Ladders. Whether it’s your local park, your favourite park or just a quieter public park, you can customise your city lesson to your preferred location requirements.

Wooden Toys

Wooden toys are a lovely gift idea. For a personalised gift head to Etsy and get your own family of wooden dolls in their own little bag. You can even choose each peg dolls colour.

Grimm’s Rainbow provides hours of imaginary fun and the Rainbow Sound Blocks last for years.

Books

You can never have too many Christmas books in my opinion. From touchy, feely books for toddlers, That’s Not My Snowman. Through to beautiful fiction books like A Boy Called Christmas for older children. For something different why not get them a comic subscription, it’s a great gift to encourage reading.

Or how about a lovely advent book, ‘The First Letters of Christmas’. A sustainable, charming and beautifully designed book that can be enjoyed year after year, while helping to capture precious family memories during the magical time of Christmas.

The First Letters of Christmas £24.99, tells the story of how Father Christmas prepares for the big day. Inside it has carbon copy pages which allow children to write and send their letter to Santa, and the parents to keep the second copy, building up an archive of their children’s letters year on year to keep forever.

As the average age of children in England no longer believing in Father Christmas is 8 years and 11 days, there is precious little time to capture the memories of children carefully writing out letters to Santa. In an age when Father Christmas can be emailed a Christmas list, this is. a lovely way to keep handwritten letters from your children.

Stocking Fillers

These Scratch Magic Note Cubes £6.99 by Melissa & Doug make a great stocking filler. It is a box of 125 Rainbow Mini Notes which kids can use to jot down notes, etch doodles, and create cool illustrations and designs. The bright colours hide beneath matte coating and are revealed by using the included wooden stylus to scratch the surface. My kids love these and leave little notes on them.

Another great stocking filler are these Colourmazing packs.

The colour magically stops at the lines. This days out travel set will keep children engaged as they watch the ink spread to create perfect pictures.

You can get the Colourmazing Travel-Sealife for £6.84.
