How to Plan the Perfect Summer Party

Thinking about throwing a party this summer? Getting it right doesn’t just mean waiting for a spell of warm weather. You’ll also need to do the necessary preparations. But what might those look like? Let’s consider a few of the steps that really matter.

Set the Perfect Mood

To begin with, you’ll need a party space that invites your guests to relax and unwind. This might mean getting the seating right, providing the right lighting, or arranging a few potted plants in strategic locations. Above all, it’s a matter of keeping the space tidy. If your guests feel that they’ve wandered into a messy garden, they might not feel that you’ve made an effort to make them feel welcome, which can result in them feeling unwelcome!

Create a playlist

If your party unfolds in complete silence, then it won’t feel much like a party. You can either devise your own playlist, perhaps around a particular theme, or you can invite guests to request their own songs. You might take inspiration from what’s currently popular, or you might lean into the best tracks from bygone years.

Plan Fun Games and Activities

Many of the best parties involve nothing more than sitting around chatting. But this isn’t always reliable, especially if you’ve assembled a group of shy people who barely know one another. The right party games can often be a catalyst for social mingling. This might mean classics like charades, or giant, outdoor Jenga. It might mean a quiz. Or, you could play a few rounds of Bingo 90, or another digital version of a classic.

Generally speaking, it’s best to look for a variety of different games. That way, you’ll be able to cater to everyone’s tastesand ensure that boredom never has a chance to set in!

Organise Food and Drink

If you don’t have food and drink, then your gathering might not qualify as a party. During summer, the default option for food is often a barbecue grill. You might also think about more modern contraptions, like metal pizza ovens and smokers. This is your chance to wow your guests after all. Where drinks are concerned, you must cater to every taste. Make a variety of soft drinks available, as well as non-alcoholic cocktails.

As with your music, it’s often a good idea to set out a theme before you start devising your menu. That way, everything will be truly coherent. At the same time, you might seek to elevate the familiar drink options with a few choice herbs. A pitcher full of lemonade can be made much more exciting by the addition of a sprig of mint, and a few slices of lemon and lime.
