The COVID-19 pandemic finally seems to be easing which means that we can look forward to things getting back to normal. However, there are signs that travelling abroad this year is going to be difficult, to say the least. This means that you might be looking for places that you can take the family around the UK. If that’s the case, then we have some great possibilities for you to consider. Here are the best options that you and your kids are sure to enjoy this year.

First, you might want to think about taking a trip to a theme park with the kids. Alton Towers is arguably the best theme park that the UK has to offer, particularly if your kids are a little older. Even if you have smaller kids, you could still have a great time in CBeebies Land which is packed full of their favourite characters. You could also take a trip to the rollercoaster restaurant where your food flies down to your table on tracks. It’s a cool experience and one that the little ones are sure to adore. However, like a few other things on this list it does book up fast so get your reservation in as quickly as possible.
Alternatively, you might want to think about going a little further north with the family and visiting Blackpool instead. Blackpool is a lovely place to visit with a pier to walk on and a beach to explore. In the summer, the water is warm enough for a paddle as well. The pier is packed full of activities including Blackpool Pleasure Beach. This exciting theme park has one of the best rides in the UK with Icon. It’s the first of its kind too because it throws you upside down without any over-the-shoulder restraints. Thanks to the new tech there’s absolutely no danger here and it feels amazing. There’s also SandCastle water park which houses some of the best indoor water rides in the UK.
Or, you could go somewhere a little more peaceful like the Lake District. If you feel like it’s time to celebrate British spring with the family, then this is certainly the perfect place to do it. There are lots of lovely spots around the location to relax and unwind next to the lakes. Don’t forget, this is also the place that inspired Beatrix Potter to write her beloved children’s tales. It’s incredibly popular with people from all over the UK and every Bank holiday there’s a massive amount of traffic racing up North towards the lakes for a long much needed weekend.
Next, you should think about going to Cornwall. If you head to Cornwall, then you can guarantee that you’ll have a great time on some of the most beautiful beaches that the UK has to offer. Cornwall is also the capital for surfing in the UK. So, if you’d love to take up this activity, then don’t hesitate to jump on this possibility. Some people might be surprised how touristy this location is and it can certainly get quite busy during the summer. However, depending on where you stay, you should still be able to find a quiet place to unwind and relax with the kids.
Or finally, you might want to plan a city escape and if that’s the case, there’s no better option then a trip to London. London is packed full of some great activities for your kids. For instance, you might want to think about taking them to the Dungeons. This is a thrill ride that is designed to scare and educate in the same measure. It’s quite reasonably priced as well so you don’t have to worry about this option costing your family a fortune.
You could also think about heading to the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio Tour. Though not technically in London, you can get a bus over to the studio from the centre of London. You will need to make sure that you book this far in advance. Tickets for the experience sell out ridiculously quickly every year. It’s definitely going to be a hotspot for people who have been trapped inside with kids for months during the lockdown.
Do any of these ideas take your fancy as an idea for a trip for your family? If so, then make sure that you start researching hotels and prices today to ensure that you can plan the perfect adventure with some truly incredible memories.
