Founded in Sweden in 1960, one of Fjӓllrӓven founding principles was to act responsibly to people, animals and nature. They do this by creating long-lasting and timeless items that people will use and enjoy for many years but also by aiming to produce all their products on nature’s terms. This means making products easy to repair if needed, using the most sustainable materials (recycled wool, traceable wool and down, recycled polyester and organic cotton for example) but also by placing strict standards on themselves and their suppliers.

Fjӓllrӓven’s best known for its Kånken backpack and this season it’s launching a new version made from its recycled-wool material – Re-Wool. The Kånken Re-Wool combines the original backpack’s iconic design from 1978 with a new, sustainable wool construction. Fjӓllrӓven’s Re-Wool material is made in Italy from a mix of spill fabric and recycled woollen garments which are blended with a small percentage of synthetic fibres to enhance its softness and durability. Because the wool is colour sorted before it’s shredded and re-woven, its production doesn’t require dyeing so greatly reduces the amount of water and chemicals used. It would make a fatastic present this Christmas £150.
