Why Make Your Own All Purpose Cleaner?

Most store-bought cleaning products are filled with toxic chemicals and packaged in plastic throwaway bottles. Plus, it’s cheaper to make your own cleaning products and it couldn’t be easier.

I’ve seen natural cleaning products around for a while and we switched to using Method last year, but I wanted to have a go at making my own. After I got over my fear of making something rubbish and after a lot of time researching, in under a minute I had a new all purpose cleaner with safe, natural, effective products. Boom!

Homemade all-purpose cleaners

Now for the good news! This DIY homemade all-purpose cleaner is not only safe and natural (it only contains 4 ingredients, one of which is water!), but it’s really effective and smells great thanks to essential oils and natural rosemary. I promise, the essential oils and fresh rosemary mask most of the vinegar scent, and even if any remains, it goes away after a minute of using. Don’t worry your house won’t stink!

If you are thinking of making your own version I recommend using crisp citrus oils like sweet orange, lemon or grapefruit or refreshing green oils, like bergamot, tea tree, eucalyptus and basil, which all smell clean and even have antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic properties.

Just make sure you don’t use this on granite or marble countertops–the natural stone can be etched by the vinegar. You can use this multi-purpose cleaner on other kitchen and bathroom surfaces, cabinets, the inside of the fridge/freezer and some appliances. It makes metal really shiny!

Happy Cleaning!
