How to throw an eco-friendly kids party…..

Take advantage of recycled invitations

The invitations are an important part of any kid’s party. While the eco-friendliest way to send them today would be to email them to parents, this obviously isn’t as exciting for the kids. So, instead you could opt for recycled invitations, made from recycled paper. You could also choose to buy your invites from local companies such as Card Factory, which operates solely in the UK.

You can even find special gift tags which have seeds embedded into them. Once you’ve finished with the tag, set it in the ground, water it and paper will biodegrade into mulch before the seeds sprout. The flowers produced are great for local wildlife and are a cute little reminder.

Switch the party bags

When creating party bags, don’t opt for those cheap plastic ones. Instead, opt for paper bags. These can be easily recycled and they’re available in a wide choice of different designs or decorate your own. You could also make them even greener by filling them with eco-friendly goodies such as Fairtrade treats, seed packets and fruit bars.

When adding toys to the bags, you’ll also want to avoid those little cheap plastic toys you can pick up. Instead, opt for wooden toys which are much kinder to the environment.

Avoid helium balloons and foil banners

Helium balloons can be a lot of fun, but like foil banners, they’re really damaging to the environment. Did you know you can buy biodegradable balloons? They may be a little more expensive, but they’re great for the environment and still deliver the same level of fun as helium balloons.

You can also create your own banners using environmentally friendly materials. The great thing about making your own, is you can get the kids involved too. They’ll enjoy helping you make their party banners and it’s a great bonding activity that will also keep them away from technology for a little while.

Have a greener clean-up

Make your clean-up operation better for the environment by composting any leftover food and recycling leftover paper and plastic. Think about the cleaning products that you use too.

You can also switch from disposable cutlery and plates to ceramic varieties and save them for future parties or donate them to charity shops if you no longer need them. Or look for a local Zero Waste party supplies company where you can rent everything from the decorations to the tableware.

Hosting an eco-friendly kids party isn’t as difficult as you might think. The above are some of the best tips you can follow to enjoy a party that’s much better for the environment.
